Visiting hours for Athangudi Palace / Sri Letchmi Vilas:
We're open from 9.30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. IST.
(Note: Entry closes by 4:30 PM IST).
Please plan to enter before 4:30 PM and cooperate with the staff. Thanks.
There are very few exceptions to Pongal, festivals, Temple Car festivals, Kumbh festival, family functions, and weddings. We will update you on any upcoming exceptions/holidays on the "Plan your Visit" page.
Tickets can be bought at the entrance of the premises. Please help the caretakers with the right information for ticketing. Please maintain decorum and keep the entire premise clean. We would like to reiterate that it takes a humongous effort and costs for Maintenance.

We totally understand your concern. The primary reason is Maintenance. Even these days maintaining is a complex activity. With house facing road, it is challenging to shield from ever appearing dust. Nevertheless, we are open to your solution. Shoot us your idea on maintenance solutions, we are happy to learn and implement.
We have put humungous effort to keep the place in the way as it is today. Prioritizing and overseeing the renovation work. Learning from past experiences, with commercial filming, helped us to understand that the technology with high power instruments is burning the paint and wood, increasing the maintenance efforts to unprecedented heights.

This is a house managed by key family members. Opened to the public to promote Chettinad Heritage and tourism. We only offer in-house souvenirs, curated especially for Athangudi Palace. You can avail them during your visit.

No, boarding and lodging arrangements require changing the primary design and altering the structure, we cannot do that without doing away with the original elements.
"Sri Letchmi Vilas" now globally recognized as Athangudi Palace is a house built by Shri. N. AR. Nachiappa Chettiar and Shrimathi Meyyammai Aachi. It is now managed by key family members.
